WardsAuto Podcast: Talking Chevy Quality and Model Upgrades

General Motors’ outlook is bright, with strong internal-combustion models and more hybrids and BEVs on the way.

Chevrolet is both the spine and muscle of General Motors. And while the automaker has stuttered on its transformation from internal-combustion engines to electrification along with most other legacy automakers, Chevy has a nicely balanced showroom between gas and electric.

While Chevrolet ended 2023 on a tough note with the Blazer EV’s temporary stop-sale, the General's most affordable brand increased sales by 13.1% over 2022. It was able to sell 1,716,000 units in 2023 with Silverado its top-selling vehicle.

While cross-town rival Ford is struggling with numerous recalls and warranty claims, Chevy is walking tall in quality, according to J.D. Power’s prevailing quality studies: Chevy ranks fifth out of 35 brands ranked in the Initial Quality Study (based on three months of ownership) and fifth in the Vehicle Dependability Study (based on three years of ownership).

WardsAuto podcast host David Kiley spoke with Chevy Chief Marketing Officer Steve Majoros – as part of the Wards100 C-Suite series of podcasts – during a trip to test drive the all-new Chevrolet Traverse crossover.
