MILAN, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Fiat's chairman said in a newspaper interview on Thursday he disapproved Italy's decision to freeze voting rights of Electricite de France [EDF.UL] in the holding company that controls Italian utility Edison .
"I disapprove the protectionism that has led to freezing EdF's rights in Edison," Umberto Agnelli told French newspaper Les Echos.
EdF has an 18 percent stake in the Italenergia Bis holding company that controls Edison, Italy's number two power group. But the Italian government has blocked its voting rights at two percent, urging Paris to open up the French power market.
Fiat owns 24.6 percent of Italenergia Bis.
