American Axle posts higher quarterly earnings


CHICAGO, April 27 (Reuters) - American Axle & Manufacturing Holdings Inc. on Friday posted a 79 percent increase in quarterly profit. Net income rose to $15.4 million, or 30 cents per share, in the first quarter, from $8.6 million, or 17 cents per share, a year earlier. The latest quarter included charges totaling 4 cents a share and a favorable tax adjustment totaling 6 cents a share.
