Asahi Tec says to buy Metaldyne for $1.2 bln total

TOKYO, Sept 1 (Reuters) - Japanese auto parts maker Asahi Tec Corp. said on Friday it will buy U.S. rival Metaldyne Corp. in a deal totalling $1.2 billion, including debt. Asahi Tec, owned 63 percent by RHJ International , the holding company of U.S. buyout firm Ripplewood Holdings, also said it would issue $188 million worth of new shares to trading house Mitsui & Co. and one other party.
