Asbury profit up despite weak retail sales

NEW YORK, July 26 (Reuters) - Retail and service company Asbury Automotive Group said on Thursday that quarterly profit rose as strength in the finance and insurance units offset weak retail sales of new and used cars.

Second-quarter profit increased to $20.6 million, or 62 cents per share, from $19 million, or 56 cents per share, a year earlier. (Reporting by Jui Chakravorty)
