JAKARTA, Dec 18 (Reuters) - Indonesia's leading auto maker PT Astra International said on Wednesday it planned to issue 1.43 billion new shares to raise 1.4 trillion rupiah ($157 million) in a rights issue.
Astra said the issue would give the right for 13 existing shares to buy seven new shares at the price of 1,000 rupiah each.
The company is scheduled to meet shareholders on Friday to get approval for the issue, amid market eagerness for details.
"Astra plans a rights issue worth 1.4 trillion rupiah. The new share issue will be 1.429 billion with a nominal value of 500 rupiah each," the company said in a statement.
By 0321 GMT Astra was up 3.81 percent at 2,725 rupiah.
