Auto shares soar on hopes of strong November sales


DETROIT, Nov 21 (Reuters) - Shares of automakers and automotive suppliers soared on Thursday after a surprising drop in jobless claims and hopes that U.S. new vehicle sales could top bleak expectations for November, analysts said. Shares of Ford Motor Co. climbed $1.27, or 14.2 percent, to $10.20, while General Motors Corp. rose $2.62, or 7.4 percent, to $37.92 in Thursday mid-day trade on the New York Stock Exchange. Among automotive suppliers, Delphi Corp. jumped 50 cents, or 6.4 ...
