BP chairman Svanberg to stay in role

DUBAI, Dec 2 (Reuters) - Carl-Henric Svanberg will not give up the chairmanship of oil major BP if his discussions about also becoming chairman at truck maker Volvo lead to him taking up that role, a source told Reuters. "He will definitely be staying" a source close to the matter said on Friday. Svanberg's predecessor at BP, Peter Sutherland, was also chairman of Goldman Sachs's overseas unit.
