Continental to fund VDO deal mainly with debt

HANOVER, Germany, July 25 (Reuters) - German car parts supplier Continental AG will finance most of its 11.4 billion-euro ($15.7 billion) acquisition of Siemens automotive electronics unit VDO through debt.

The company said on Wednesday that it would also take "measures to strengthen its equity capital" to complement the increase in debt resulting from the purchase.

Initially, Continental aims to quickly implement the VDO restructuring plans developed by Siemens.
