Continental to sell fewer winter tyres this year

FRANKFURT, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Continental AG expects to sell fewer winter tyres this year than the 19.1 million sold in 2006 because of a mild winter worldwide, the German car parts maker said on Monday.

A Continental AG spokesman said the passenger car tyre unit's operating earnings this year would nevertheless be outstanding. Last year, the division's earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) were 651 million euros ($933.3 million). (Reporting by Jan Schwartz)
