Daimler says puts Russia car plan on ice

FRANKFURT, Dec 14 (Reuters) - DaimlerChrysler , the world's fifth-largest automaker, has put plans to assemble cars in Russia on hold and does not see the project being pursued in the forseeable future, it said on Wednesday.

It said assembling cars in Russia was not competitive due to tax and customs rules, adding that it was in talks with the Russian government.
