EU clears Salzgitter's plan to buy Vallourec unit


BRUSSELS, June 27 (Reuters) - Germany's second-largest steelmaker, Salzgitter , won permission from the European Commission on Wednesday to buy France-based Vallourec's precision steel tubes business VPE. The transaction, financial details of which were not disclosed when announced last December, includes the purchase of a steel tube mill with a mid-term production target of more than 200,000 tonnes of semi-finished products annually, located in the east German state of Saxony.
