Exide to close Louisiana battery plant in June

CHICAGO, April 24 (Reuters) - Exide Technologies , which makes batteries for cars and trucks, on Monday said it will close its Shreveport, Louisiana, lead-acid battery plant effective June 22.

The plant, which employs more than 200 people, makes auto batteries for Ford Motor Co. , among other aftermarket customers, the company said. Production from the plant will be absorbed by other plants.
