Fiat boss sees Italy car demand down 15 pct in 2002

ROME, June 21 (Reuters) - Fiat Chairman and Chief Executive Paolo Fresco expects Italian car demand to fall 15 percent in 2002, he told a parliamentary hearing on Friday.

"In 2002 there will be a five percent fall in demand on a European level," Fresco added.

The head of Fiat's auto division, Giancarlo Boschetti, told the same hearing that preliminary car sales figures for June suggested Fiat's key home market would be weaker in the second half of the year than in the first.
