ROME, Dec 17 (Reuters) - An Italian consortium composed of defence and engineering group Finmeccanica and automaker Iveco Fiat on Tuesday won a contract worth more than 500 million euros to supply weapons to Italy's army.
Finmeccanica said in a statement the consortium would supply Italy with 70 self-propelled howitzers with delivery between 2004 and 2008.
Finmeccanica, which is controlled by the Italian government, is involved in the consortium via its Oto Melara unit.
