PARIS, Dec 5 (Reuters) - France on Wednesday started a system of CO2 penalties and discounts on the price of new cars in a bid to boost sales of vehicles with low greenhouse gas emissions.
The Ministry of Ecology said the penalties range from 200 to 2,600 euros ($3,826) for more polluting passenger cars and the discounts from 200 to 5,000 euros for cleaner cars. (Reporting by Marcel Michelson; Editing by Quentin Bryar)
