France's Faurecia to invest 30 mln eur in Slovakia

BRATISLAVA, June 28 (Reuters) - French car parts producer Faurecia plans to invest 30 million euros ($36.5 million) to open a plant in Slovakia and take advantage of the country's booming car industry, a company official said on Monday.

Faurecia Vice President Lauren de Lustrac said the firm planned to produce front and rear car bumpers and dashboards in Slovakia for French car maker PSA Peugeot Citroen , which is building a 700 million-euro assembly plant in Slovakia.

The new EU member has been attracting a growing number of foreign investors in the past few years due to its proximity to western and eastern markets, low labour costs and a flat 19 percent tax rate.

The inflow of foreign direct investment has been one of the main factors boosting the Slovak crown currency to record highs this year.
