PARIS, Feb 12 (Reuters) - Economy Minister Christine Lagarde said on Thursday major destocking by companies and a crisis in the autombile sector had combined to shunt French GDP sharply lower in the fourth quarter of 2008.
Earlier, protesting INSEE statisticians released the GDP data a day ahead of schedule, showing that the economy contracted 1.2 percent in the last three months of 2008.
