MARSEILLE, France, Oct 18 (Reuters) - France's minister for justice admitted on Monday his car broke the speed limit during national road safety week, but pleaded innocent because he had been in the back of the chauffeur-driven vehicle at the time.
"I was indeed in the car, but I wasn't driving it," Minister Dominique Perben told a news conference. "I generally work while on the motorway and it's hard to gauge the speed," he said.
