FreightCar sees up to $24.5 mln charge in dispute

Newswire

BOSTON, May 8 (Reuters) - U.S. railroad car maker FreightCar America Inc said on Thursday that it would take a charge of $20 million to $24.5 million after an arbitrator ruled that it was liable for back pay and benefits to workers at a Johnstown, Pennsylvania, factory that it said in December 2007 it intends to close.

It said the charge would reduce earnings per share by $1.11 to $1.32 for the quarter ended March 31. (Reporting by Scott Malone, editing by Gerald E. McCormick)
