PARIS, Aug 6 (Reuters) - French Finance Minister Francis Mer said on Wednesday he was confident that the rescue plan for struggling French industrial giant Alstom would win the approval of EU competition authorities in Brussels.
And he told a news conference that the French government would finance its backing for Alstom with the proceeds of its recent sale of shares in French auto maker Renault .
