PARIS, May 5 (Reuters) - French Socialists defended IMF boss and potential presidential candidate Dominique Strauss-Kahn on Thursday after he was pictured standing next to a flashy sports car, drawing mockery from right-wing opponents.

The photograph of Strauss-Kahn and his wife beside the Porsche Panamera, which sells in France for more than 100,000 euros ($149,000), sparked a minor media frenzy, even though it belonged to a friend and not to him.
