WASHINGTON, March 10 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner said on Tuesday that any public help to the country's troubled automakers would aim to leave them in a position to survive on their own feet down the road.
"What we want to do is figure out what restructuring plan will leave these firms in the position where they are going to be viable over time without government support," he told public broadcasting's Charlie Rose Show.
