FRANKFURT, May 1 (Reuters) - General Electric is interested in buying German diesel motor builder MTU Friedrichshafen, a unit of DaimlerChrysler , Handelsblatt reported on Sunday, citing financial sources.
The sources estimated the company's value at at least 1 billion euros ($1.3 billion), the paper said.
A GE bid would provide competition to German trucks and machinery group MAN , which is also examining MTU.
