Genuine Parts swings to first-quarter profit

CHICAGO, April 17 (Reuters) - Genuine Parts Co. , the auto parts distributor, on Thursday reported it swung to a first-quarter net profit on better sales of its industrial and office products.

The company, which supplies auto parts under the NAPA name, said first-quarter net income was $68.9 million, or 39 cents a share. A year ago, the company posted a net loss of $308.1 million, or $1.76 a share, due to an accounting change for goodwill. Excluding goodwill, the company earned ...
