BERLIN, Jan 29 (Reuters) - Finance Minister Peer Steinbrueck is considering allowing individual German lenders to set up "bad banks" to house their toxic assets, a newspaper reported on Thursday.
The Berliner Zeitung said Steinbrueck stuck to his position that the government would not set up a national "bad bank" to shift toxic assets off lenders' balance sheets, but that individual institutes could possibly do something similar.
