German govt to sponsor diesel filters in 2006-source

BERLIN, Feb 2 (Reuters) - The German government will offer tax incentives for diesel particle filters from 2006 as part of a move to cut harmful engine emissions, a government source said on Wednesday.

Incentives would run until the end of 2007 and amount to 350 euros for new cars and 250 euros for older cars.

The cost of the programme would amount to 1.5 billion euros, the source said.
