German July car production up 9 pct, says VDA

FRANKFURT, Aug 12 (Reuters) - Germany's VDA automobile association said on Monday July car production increased nine percent against the previous year to 395,100 vehicles but added it still saw no sustained recovery in Germany's car industry.

New registrations inched up two percent to 282,000 vehicles and exports grew 12 percent to 294,400 cars, but the VDA noted that July 2002 had one more working day than the previous year, making the comparison figures favourable.
