BERLIN, May 26 (Reuters) - A spokesman for Germany's Economy Ministry confirmed on Tuesday that Chinese carmaker Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co (BAIC) had submitted an offer to buy General Motors' German unit Opel.
"We received such a statement of interest this evening," said a spokesman for the ministry when asked whether BAIC had made an offer for Opel.
