BERLIN, Nov 14 (Reuters) - A new German law raising taxes on natural gas and limiting industry exemptions from other energy taxes was adopted by parliament on Thursday despite opposition claims it would hurt the country's competitiveness.
The law, adopted by 303 to 274 votes, also extends the life of tax breaks encouraging use of natural gas to power vehicles until 2020. They were due to expire on December 31, 2009.
