WIESBADEN, Germany, Nov 19 (Reuters) - Lawmakers in the west German state of Hesse on Wednesday cleared the way for possible state support for cash-strapped carmaker Opel , empowering the state government to grant guarantees of up to 500 million euros ($631 million) to troubled firms.
The state assembly of Hesse, where Opel has a main factory in Ruesselsheim, unanimously passed a law allowing the state to help firms hit by the financial crisis.
