BERLIN, Jan 7 (Reuters) - The German finance ministry denied a newspaper report on Tuesday that it had abandoned its plans to raise tax on company cars to 1.5 percent from 1.0 percent as part of a bid to plug a gaping hole in the budget.
"That is completely made up," a ministry spokesman said, adding that the government had put forward a concrete proposal and mere criticism alone was not enough to justify changing the plan -- alternatives were needed.
