Germany wants limit for diesel car soot emissions

BRUSSELS, March 2 (Reuters) - Germany has asked the EU to set thresholds for car emissions of diesel particles as a way to help curb pollution, its environment minister said on Tuesday.

New technology capable of filtering out almost all particles in diesel exhaust fumes could capitalise on rising consumer demand for diesel cars and help Germany in its efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions, German Environment Minister Juergen Trittin said.
