DETROIT, Sept 18 (Reuters) - General Motors Corp. will close its aging Baltimore assembly plant in 2005, affecting about 1,100 active workers at the mid-size van plant, the president of the United Auto Workers union local said on Thursday.
"We're slated for closure for 2005," UAW Local 239 President Walter Plummer told Reuters.
A GM spokesman declined to comment. But GM has not scheduled any new vehicles for the plant past the summer of 2005, the spokesman said.
