GM's Recall Crisis

In March 2014, GM initiated a massive recall due to faulty ignition switches affecting 1.6 million Chevrolet, Pontiac, and Saturn small cars and CUVs built between 2003 and 2007. The defective part has been linked to 12 deaths and 31 crashes and early evidence indicated the automaker knew the parts were faulty while still in production but continued to used them. The recall has prompted an internal investigation at GM, as well as a federal probe and Congressional subcommittee hearings.
