Hungary NABI wins $138 mln U.S. order

BUDAPEST, Feb 28 (Reuters) - Hungarian busmaker NABI said on Friday it had won a $138 million order from the Los Angeles transport company (LACMTA) to deliver 200 gas-powered buses with deliveries starting in 2005.

The deal is the final installment of LACMTA's original plan to purchase nearly 2,100 new buses, NABI said in a statement.

The actual execution of the contract to purchase the 200 articulated buses is contingent on funding from the State of California's Traffic Congestion Relief Program (TCRP), which has been temporarily suspended, NABI added.

To finance the purchase of the vehicles, LACMTA will use funds previously allocated for exercising its option for 350 NABI buses of the type LFW CNG buses connected to a previous procurement, the company said.

At 1317 GMT NABI shares traded at 3,130 forints, up 85 forints or 2.79 percent, while the BUX index of the broader market was down 0.16 percent at 7,240.22 points.
