Battery-electric vehicle and platform maker Ree Automotive says it has made a commercial breakthrough by winning trading certification in the clean-air target state of California.
The automaker has been awarded two certificates from the California Air Resources Board (CARB) for its Class 4 P7-C chassis cab. The two certifications include Phase 2 Greenhouse Gas (GHG) covering the complete vehicle and the new Zero Emission Powertrain (ZEP) certification.
In addition to California, the automaker hopes several other states will adopt the Phase 2 GHG and ZEP requirements in coming years.
CARB certification is a requirement for eligibility for several Californian state incentives which, combined with federal subsidies, can total more than $100,000 per vehicle depending on customer location.
The news follows on from the automaker recently achieving Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards and EPA certification.
