PSA Extends Night Shift at LCV Plant to Meet Demand

The long-term part-time and permanent contracts guarantee 70 jobs both in PSA and in the employment area of Hauts de France, the country’s leading automobile-building region.

Night shifts at PSA Group’s Hordain, France, plant will be maintained for another year to keep pace with demand for its light-commercial vehicles.

The plant located 120 miles (193 km) north of Paris produces the highly successful panel van rangem including the Peugeot Expert and the Citroen Jumpy, as well as MPVs such as the Peugeot Traveler and Citroen Spacetourer.

The commitment means 70 employees will be recruited on long-term part-time contracts by temporary employment agencies Adecco, Crit and Synergie and on permanent employment contracts by the Alliance Emploi group of employers.

The contracts guarantee jobs both in PSA and in the employment area of Hauts de France, the country’s leading automobile-building region.

The night shift was created in late September for a provisional period of six months to support the commercial launch of new vehicles.

“These vehicles are enjoying very strong sales, with over 67,000 units sold since their commercial launch in mid-2016,” says Maxime Picat, executive vice president-operational director for Europe. “With market share of 21.3% at the end of February, PSA is leader in the segment for light-commercial vehicles in Europe. These vehicles will enable PSA to gain market share, especially in the multipurpose and business-shuttle segments.”
