Italian bank Sanpaolo ups stake in Fiat -Consob

MILAN, Sept 18 (Reuters) - Italian bank Sanpaolo IMI has raised its stake in Fiat to just over two percent after its holding got diluted in the carmaker's recent capital increase, Italian market regulator Consob said on Thursday.

Data on Consob's Web site showed that Sanpaolo increased its Fiat stake to 2.022 percent on September 11.

The Turin-based bank, which is one of Fiat's main creditors, saw its stake diluted to below two percent from 2.347 percent after Fiat completed a 1.8 billion euro ($2.03 billion) share offer. The capital increase has also diluted the stakes of some of Fiat's foreign investors.
