MILAN, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Italian banks Capitalia , Intesa and Sanpaolo IMI said on Friday that Electricite de France [EDF.UL] would not be able not stop them from selling their stakes in Edison's parent company.
EDF said earlier on Friday it was seeking arbitration over a web of put and call options with shareholders in Italenergia Bis -- which owns 62 percent of Edison -- that could force the French power giant to buy Italy's number two power group.
