Malaysia EONto list banking arm on Monday

KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 17 (Reuters) - Malaysian auto and banking group Edaran Otomobil Nasional Bhd (EON) will list its financial unit next Monday, the Star newspaper said on Tuesday.

The diversified group plans to list EON Capital, which owns small-sized EON Bank Bhd, on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange via a reverse takeover of shell firm Kedah Cement Holdings Bhd .

Analysts said the move would give investors opportunity to buy directly into its banking and finance business.

The newspaper also reported EON Chairman Mohd Saleh Sulong as saying the group planned to merge its banking and finance operations within two years.

EON Capital groups together unlisted merchant bank Malaysia International Merchant Bankers Bhd, EON Bank and EON Finance.

"We are planning on making EON Finance a division of EON Bank, not a separate unit," Mohd Saleh said.

EON shares were untraded and stood at 12.80 ringgit at 0101 GMT.
