MAN says sceptical about trucks mergers

FRANKFURT, Nov 19 (Reuters) - German trucks and engineering group MAN AG said on Tuesday it had become more sceptical about big mergers in the trucks sector, but said firms would continue to seek savings through cooperation agreements.

"Overall we have become more sceptical as far as big mergers are concerned, because we have seen that not every big merger has led to an improvement in earnings," MAN's Chief Financial Officer, Ferdinand von Ballestrem, told a conference call.

Ballestrem said the firm wanted to focus on internal growth rather than mergers and acquisitions.

There has been speculation that MAN might be interested in buying a strategic stake in Swedish rival Scania from Volvo .
