Kia to Unveil Sporty Coupe, Hatchback in Geneva

Sales of the new models, designed under the leadership of newly appointed Kia President of Design Peter Schreyer, launch in June in European markets.

Hatchback’s turbo 1.6L GDI engine makes 201 hp.

Kia will unveil its all-new 2-door pro_cee’d GT and cee’d GT 4-door hatchback at the Geneva auto show, with production of both models expected to launch in May at the auto maker’s Zilina plant in Slovakia.

The cars are powered by a new, 4-cyl. turbocharged 1.6L direct-injection gasoline engine producing 201 hp and 195 lb.-ft. (264 Nm) of torque. A 6-speed manual transmission enables acceleration of 0-62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.9 seconds.

Both versions feature dual tailpipes, 18-in. wheels and red-painted brake calipers. Other features include light-emitting-diode headlamps, Kia’s signature honeycomb grille and black-painted roof. Aluminum pedals and black Recaro seats with red stitching are among the interior touches.
