In an effort to dismiss auto maker complaints that a new fuel economy standard of 35 mpg by 2020 will devastate the industry, U.S. Senator Dianne Feinstein said recently that it doesn’t make any sense that auto makers can achieve such standards in Europe but not America. In fact, it makes a lot of sense.
