MMC says no announcement on restructuring soon

TOKYO, Feb 17 (Reuters) - Mitsubishi Motors Corp , Japan's fourth-largest auto maker, said on Tuesday it had no plans to announce a restructuring of its domestic and overseas operations soon, denying a newspaper report that such a move was imminent.

The auto maker, held 37 percent by DaimlerChrysler AG , also said its chief executive, Rolf Eckrodt, would stay on after the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported he would be replaced as early as April.

"There is no foundation for the article, which is based purely on speculation," Mitsubishi Motors said in a faxed statement. "There are no plans for a retirement (by Eckrodt)."

It added that it would announce a new mid-term business plan at the time of the announcement for full-year results, expected some time in May.
