NEW YORK, Aug 13 (Reuters) - News Corp. on Wednesday said it expects to gain regulatory approval for its $6.6 billion acquisition of satellite television company DirecTV by the end of this year.
"We're pleased with the progress to date," said Rupert Murdoch, News Corp.'s chairman, on a conference call with analysts. "We remain hopeful the transaction will receive necessary approvals by the end of the calendar year."
