Twists, Turns (and One Fall) For Outgoing NADA Chief

“It was the single-most enjoyable professional experience of my life,” Bill Fox says of his NADA tenure.

LAS VEGAS – Bill Fox compares his year term as 2015 National Automobile Dealer Assn. chairman to driving a fast sports car.

“You’re moving at phenomenal speeds through twists and turns,” the multi-franchise dealer from upstate New York says during a farewell address at the 2016 NADA convention. “At the end of the experience, you can’t believe how much ground you covered or how much you’ve learned.”

Fox tripped up – literally – early in his chairmanship. He was walking in San Francisco (site of last year’s NADA convention) when he fell face-first into a restaurant’s sandwich-board menu. The damage required stitches and dental work. The injury was noticeable when he gave his inaugural speech two days later.

He got through the rest of his tenure unscathed. How does he describe his chairmanship? “It was the single most enjoyable professional experience of my life.”

Congratulated on his farewell address here, Fox tells WardsAuto, “Well, I got through it.”
