CHICAGO, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Truck maker Navistar International Corp. and the United Auto Workers union were in last-minute talks Monday in a final push to avoid a lockout or strike before a temporary labor contract expires just after midnight.
The company notified the union late Sunday that it will terminate the extended contract at 12:01 a.m. local time Tuesday at each of its facilities covered by the UAW contract.
