BERLIN, Sept 18 (Reuters) - A new framework for financial market regulation should be in place by the middle of next year, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Friday.

Merkel was speaking in Berlin ahead of a meeting of G20 leaders in the U.S. city of Pittsburgh next week.
