New firm to sell Mitsubishi cars in Iraq

MANAMA, Jan 17 (Reuters) - Iraqi and Bahraini investors have set up a company with a capital of $8 million to sell Mitsubishi Motors Corp cars in Iraq, the investing firms said on Saturday.

Bahrain's Zayani Motors -- which represents Mitsubishi Motors in Bahrain -- and Iraqi-owned Al Dhahir Group said their new Al Rasheed Holding Company, a car dealership, would launch its operation in Baghdad in April and later expand to the cities of Basra and Mosul.

"We understand the security risks, but there are also big opportunities in Iraq," Mufada Kamal, vice chairman of Al Dhahir Group, told a news conference in Bahrain which was attended by a Mitsubishi Motors representative.
